Fortress Maximus Originally Maximus was the leader of a large Autobot resistence cell on Cybertron,
Maximus: who grew weary of the war and decided to leave. He and his soldiers found the Earth-like planet Nebulos, and settled there. However elements within Nebulos’ humanoid population were threatened by the giant warrior robots and to keep the peace, Fortress Maximus and many of his soldiers surrendered their heads as insurance to for the peaceful conduct of the others. However Scorponok’s Decepticon’s found Nebulos and attacked the capital. The Nebulans’ leader Galen decided to trust Maximus, and the Headmaster process was devised whereby a Nebulan could be bio-engineered to transform into the head of a Transformer. With this joint effort the Decepticon’s were pushed back but soon they too possessed Headmasters and the later developed Targetmasters. Galen realised the war would destroy his world, and after being freed by Lord Zarak, Scorponok’s headmaster, he and his Autobots fled Nebulos. Responding to an Autobot distress call, Maximus went to earth where Galen was killed fighting Scorponok. Galen had died saving Spike Witwicky the older brother of Buster Witwicky who had befriended the Autobots soon after their arrival in 1984. Spike took Galen’s control helmet and using Maximus helped the Nebulan Autobots defeat Scorponok. Spike went on to become Maximus’ new headmaster and lead the Nebulan Autobots. However Spike was never comfortable with the arrangement and after Maximus had arranged for a new body for Optimus Prime to built (to house Prime’s mind which had survived housed in a computer after his body’s destruction) Maximus faded more into the background. After the Underbase incident Spike turned over Maximus’ control helmet and effectively retired. Maximus’s body was placed in storage on the Ark. However Spike could not let go of his duty. When the Ark crashed on Earth a second time in 1991, following Unicron’s destruction, Maximus called to his headmaster and Spike returned to become Fortress Maximus once more to defeat Galvatron. Spike turned in his helmet once more but swore to be the guardian of Earth, for the Autobots had left not wanting to harm Earth further. Maximus’ body rested in the Ark’s ruins until Megatron returned in a new devastatingly powerful form in 1994. Spike snuck aboard the rebuilt Ark and became Fortress Maximus one last time. Though unable to defeat Megatron, Fortress Maximus and Spike threw themselves into the Ark’s plasma core destroying the Ark in hopes of killing Megatron. Both were killed instantly but Megatron survived.
Emirate Xaaron :The member of Iacon’s ruling council who convinced the High Chancellor to make Optimus Prime commander of the Autobot army. When Trannis destroyed Iacon he was the only member of the High Council not to surrender to the Decepticons and thus was not executed with the others. Taking a hundred or so followers he escaped and eventually became the unofficial head of the Autobot underground. In the time leading up to Unicron’s coming he was forced by Galvatron to call forth Primus and was then possessed by the Transformer’s creator. As Primus he brought all of the Transformers back to Cybertron for the final battle in which he perished.
Impactor Impactor was the first leader of the Autobot’s elite strike force the Wreckers. A close confederate of Emirate Xaaron, Impactor and his team came into prominence in the years of Decepticon rule on Cybertron. Impactor was killed protecting Emirate Xaaron in the aftermath of the failure of Operation Volcano. Operation Volcano was a plot to draw out the Decepticons’ deadliest killers and massacre them signalling an Autobot uprising to retake Cybertron. However the Decepticon targets were called back at the last moment by Megatron. All but one obeyed. This one, Macabre, obsessed with killing Emirate Xaaron (who was the bait for Operation Volcano), continued on. Impactor took Macabre’s shot and died in Xaaron’s arms after the rest of the Wreckers killed the assassin. Impactor was succeeded as Wrecker leader by Springer. However, Impactor’s corpse was resurrected among countless others as a zombie by the mad Autobot scientist Flame. Flame used them to secure a giant Fusion Drive that Megatron had constructed to convert Cybertron into a mobile interstellar battle station at the start of the war. However the drive was unstable and activating it would destroy Cybertron. Flame refused to believe this and was going to activate it anyway. With aid from Springer, Impactor was able to free himself from Flame’s control and set off to atone for all he had done a Flame’s slave. Impactor killed Flame, saving Xaaron, but the reactor had been activated. To contain the explosion Impactor went into the reactor core to separate it from the rest of the reactor, and died for the final time saving Cybertron.
